10th March 2018

We made it safely back from Cambodia.    While Simon was on his filming job, I kept myself busy with a 1/2 day cycling tour of the city which was fun.

We cycled north of Phnom Pehn to the Silk Islands,  The ride was around 25km through Cham Muslim communities on quiet back roads and tracks which was lovely. We then got a ferry to the Mekong islands where we cycled through orchards & market gardens and made a little stop at a silk factory/home where we first enjoyed some local fruits and then given guide of the silk process which was very interesting.

A few KM's on, we stopped at a Tofu skin place (can't think of the proper name)  It's where they boil Soy beans and as it boils, a layer of skin builds which they cut, take off, hang to dry and then sell as a type of noodle supplement.    Didn't look that nice to be honest.  It wasn't smelly at all.

Making our way back to the city, we stopped at a couple of temples and then caught a ferry back across the river where we had a lovely lunch and returned to back to the bike shop.   It was a great way to see a different side of Phnom Pehn.

After spending a couple of days on my own, I was reunited with a very smelly Simon on the Saturday  afternoon.   Boy he was pleased to be back. He said he'd been on what was like an episode of Survivor.  Hardly any sleep, no washing facilities, eaten only plain ride and spaghetti and returned in the same clothes that he'd left in  ..he had brushed his teeth and had been diving in very shallow waters, so that was a bonus.  ;-D

After a good shower, change of clothes and a little snooze we ventured out to investigate some of the markets and then went to a Speakeasybar  ..I'd never heard of them but they're all the rage now apparently.   Check out the entrance!!

Reminds me of the Tardis

Lovely bar doing food & live band. Sound proofed of course
