For those of you who don't know what Songkran is , its basically a massive water fight that may last hours, days depending where you are, celebrating the Thai New Year. It represents purification and washing away all of their sins and bad luck. People who have moved away usually return home to be with their elders and loved ones. Here on Koh Tao, usually everyone goes out and buys the biggest water gun they can find or jumps in the back of a taxi and drives up and down throwing ice cold water over everyone that's lined up on the road. It's great fun if you've not experienced it before.
So, the last few days Simon has been teaching a 'Self Reliant' course with a German lady ..her English wasn't so good, so in the beginning, Carsten helped with translation but he ended up being sick on the 2nd day and she seemed to get on ok and is now very proud of herself.
I on the other hand have been taking the DMT's out on eco dives. As there is about 35-40 DMT's at the moment and taking 15 or so at one time is too many. It's like trying herding cats, they're not a bad bunch but I'm definitely going to limit the numbers in the future :-D

One of the highlights this week was seeing Terry the Turtle swim right through my group of dive master trainees. I could have sworn that he slowed down, looked straight at me and winked :-D Iona, you would have laughed ...such a cheeky turtle :-D
