Day 133 - 17th June 2010

We arrived at Crystal at 6.50am and helped Nath pack the students dive bags and then grabbed a coffee.  The students turned up a couple of minutes later and checked their equipment, making sure it was the correct size etc.   On dives 3 & 4, the videographers come out with us to film the dive but today wasn't the greatest of days.  The vis on both dives was terrible, maybe 1-2 meters vis on the first and maybe 4 meters on the 2nd.  As we couldnt do any skills on the first dive, performance requirements were not met, so Nath decided to do a short 5th dive at Junk Yard on our way back. Thankfully the vis was much better, maybe 10 or so meters, so we were able to complete the skills, go for a little fun dive and the Jace (videographer) was able to get some semi decent footage.  I felt bad for the students as it's the worst vis that we've experienced since being here.

The students funnily enough had a great time, they loved the extra dive at Junk Yard and were pleased with seeing half a dozen puffa fish, baby sweetlips, cuttle fish amongst the normal damsels etc  and back in the bar, after having an hour or so lunch break, they decided to signed up for the Advanced course in a couple of days.

I must say that I originally thought the 4 young girls in the group would be a complete nightmare as they weren't taking things seriously, were playing around during their buddy checks but with a stern word here and there, they stepped into line quite nicely ;-)

We're at home now, Si's catching up with UK work and I'm popping out to see whether anyones in the office so I can collect our washing.

Tonight at 7.30pm, we've our groups open water video which should be interesting, I wonder how much footage Jace got.
