Today, was finally the day to head to the mainland.
A 6 hour high speed catamaran ferry to Surat Thani on advice from a certain dive medic on the island. According to him, there was a specialist located there.
So, I say my goodbyes to Jenny and head off on my journey.
I left Koh Tao and 9.30am, and arrived at Surat Thani city at 3.30pm.
Catching a taxi to the specialist that I was told to go to, I arrived and was told that they were not capable of diagnosing the problem. SOME SPECIALIST?!They advised me (in Thai not English) to go to another clinic down the road. The clinic did not open till 5pm, so I waited for the doors to be unlocked... in the pouring rain...
So, clinic opened and 30mins later after having a friend translate Thai over the phone I get seen by a doctor. This doctor (?) shone a torch in my nose and mouth and proclaimed magically "you have allergy to pressure". Now, being a diver for 9 years, I have never heard of a ridiculous thing! Everyone on Koh Tao agrees. So, feeling deflated and sent back to Koh Tao with a bottle of nasal spray... I headed back to the pier to pick up the night boat to Koh Tao.
The night boat is not pretty. The beds are narrower than my shoulders, the ceiling is 3 feet high, there is no air con, or fan.
A hot, sweaty, busy, and 9 hour long ferry through the night and I arrived back on Koh Tao....

I have heard it all now allergy, what a load of rubbish.
There was a programme recently regarding doctors abroad, SCARY.
The beds looks like an army barrack, hope you have'nt joioned up while you've been out there. Both of you stay safe.
Did anybody question why you was taking photos down there? I'm surprised you weren't lynched for your belongings! I hope your hooter handles the pressure allergies that you're experiencing. I mean, it must be terrible sneezing away when you're 30m down surveying coral.
