Day 211 - 31th August 2010

The last few days have been difficult with ear pain. Laying down holding your ear while gazing out at the ocean is very annoying.

Still, the pain has started to fade (although it'll be a few more days I think)..

The only thing we have managed to do is help out a little building some new structures for Junkyard.

The biscuit tins with pipes create a recreation of branching coral, which will attract fish (hopefully!)

Tom hard at work mixing the cement (not easy in these temperatures!)

Olly and Stephanie making the new "dude".

And "Chang" the dog says Hi !

Day 208 - 28th August 2010

Ear pain still :-(

So today, we met up with the Eco Team to discuss future plans. Lots of stuff on the go, but first task was to strip the old tank trunk, removing all plastic, rubber etc to prepare it to go in the water.

The truck is now ready to go... We just have to get it to Junkyard... I think it will be a mission!

Later that evening, we went to Crystal, for a BBQ and a couple of beers.. I was glad to leave as my ear was pounding... Bed was calling.

On a side note, we heard some terrible news yesterday. Delphine and Aidy, locals on Koh Tao (and the first 2 people we met on Koh Tao, last year) were in Bangkok where sadly Delphine died during childbirth.

Everyone here is stunned and shocked by this very sad news, and we send our deepest condolences to her family.

Day 207 - 27th August 2010

Before I woke, Si popped down to the clinic as his ear was very painful and had it syringed.  They picked some lovely wax out and he was able to hear again but as the day went on, it became more painful, so went on to painkillers which seemed to help slightly.  If it persists, I think antibiotics are needed.

So after a fabulous day yesterday, we just took it easy, cleaned the house, watched a few movies as we were both aching from the trapeze.

In the evening we popped down to Crystal to watch the Open Water movies, then a couple of episodes of Whale Wars which was entertaining.

On our way home we rode into Sairee to get a takeaway.

Day 206 - 26th August 2010 Anniversary Report

Today, I woke up, got dressed and sneaked out.

My mission was to buy flowers, croissants and orange juice for Jen.

Got back and realised we had no milk for tea, so out again I went!

Woke Jen with a nice cuppa, flowers and cornflakes. Then croissants, butter and jam. I think she enjoyed that.
After catching up with a couple of episodes of Big Brother, we went to a dive shop to buy some new booties for her! She really needed a new pair since her other ones have huge holes in...

Boots purchased, it was time to go play in the pool... for a couple of hours. Very relaxing.

At 5pm we went back home, and changed into some dry clothes before going to our next appointment... The Flying Trapeze.

Jen was very nervous at first, but soon got the hang of it, getting extremely close to a catch at the end. I was luckier, getting my first catch bang on (subsequent ones, didn't work out).

After an exhausting hour of flying through the air with not the greatest of ease, we went for dinner at Papa's Tapas. A really nice dinner, with a bottle of wine that costs nearly £50 here that you could buy in Tesco's for £8... well it was a special occasion, and boy was it nice to have a decent (ish) bottle of wine.

Back home, we watched Prince of Persia before bed.

Day 204 - 24th August 2010

Today, while Jen was resting with a slight cold, I went hunting for Whaleshark.

Yesterday, a whaleshark was spotted at Chumphon Pinnacle. Unfortunately, Jen and I had a few drinks last night, and getting up at 6am... I couldn't even open a pack of cornflakes!!!

Anyway, camera prepped and dive kit ready.. I hit the boat to Chumphon, and...... NO WHALESHARK!!! Hey ho...

2 dives, no problems... and I went off the beach in the afternoon to Junkyard. There I came across the biggest Barracuda I have ever seen.. 2m long, it was a beast of a fish... Absolutely stunning..

So no Whaleshark, but the Barracuda was awesome.

After that, I nipped to the pool with Jen and Nick... and kicked his butt!

Oh, and forgot to post this piccie of the scorpion in our bed the day before yesterday... yuck!
