22nd November 2013

Not much to say really... I've been extremely busy with helping out on a new project that I'll be showing you over the next couple of weeks. Checking out new offices for it as well... And we will be moving in on the 1st of December.!!

The weather is pretty yucky... Lots of wind and rain... I bet Jenny is glad she finished her course yesterday and can chill out and stay dry today.

In the meantime, here are a couple of shots from our scouting mission last week..

14th November 2013

Jen has been doing Discover Scuba Dives during the last couple of days, while I continue to work on UK work and some new projects here on Koh Tao.

Also, I have been helping Nathan put some old gym equipment at Junkyard, however...whilst doing that I managed to dislocate my shoulder.  No big deal.... its an old bike injury and easily went back in, but was sore for a bit...

That evening, while experimenting with night photos, my back decided to seize up and for the past 2 days I have been resting it... Pretty sore but hopefully its getting better. Until then, I guess I can catch up with the multitude of stuff on my "To Do" list!

Here is a photo that I took before my back froze...it was almost pitch black when I took it, but with a 30sec shutter speed it managed to bring out quite a nice effect.

12th November 2013

Hi All,

Another break, due to a 6 week old hard drive failing in my laptop.. I have had to send the part to Taiwan for repair and temporarily "bandage" the computer to get it working until they decide to send me a new hard drive..

So, in the last week and a half. 5 days were taken up with just sitting indoors working to fix the laptop.. Yawn!!

The other few days, we got our Eco hats on, and have been doing coral nursery workshops, and reef check surveys etc.

I have also been driving Jen to parts of the island she has never seen before.. She remarked that it seemed like we were not even on the same island.. and will have to take the camera next time we go..

Today, we have access to a gym which has moved location. The owner is donating some of his old equipment to us. Which mean Junkyard dive site will have some more workout stuff !! I went to look at it briefly yesterday, and the stuff looked like it'll be very useful.

We shall see!!

01 November 2013

Firstly and most importantly

HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY TOM!!!!

Have an awesome day with whatever you do!   Wish we could be there to celebrate :-D

Life has been busy, I've been teaching Open Water, Advanced and now in the middle of a Deep Speciality.  Crystal itself has been pretty quiet so, to have constant work has been great.  I've actually made more money than Simon this week   :-D

I'm supposed to be in the office right now but all the check-ins have been dealt with and instead of being eaten alive by mozzies, I'm sat down by the beach typing away.

Just ear wigging, some people are already talking about Christmas  ..Im not looking forward to it that much, being away from everyone  ..I hope Santa knows where to find me :-(  ..but I suppose it's good to try something different.

Customers call   ...argh!!!

26th October 2013

Well its been a while.

We have had a small hiatus, returning back to the UK, seeing friends and family.

Now we are back on "The Rock"!

In the past week, returning to changeable weather, unpacking, attempting to start the bike and generally settling has been tiring, but also fun... Returning to diving has also been very rewarding... we both missed it!

Since its been very flat conditions, we have been making the most of it by doing coral transplanting. 3 solid days of coral transplanting has been great fun, but boy my fingers are sore from twisting so much rope.

Jenny has now started a four person course, and is taking the students out for a couple of dives today. Lets hope the rain stays away, so they can enjoy it without shivering!!

11th September 2013

Happy Birthday Squiddles!!!

Sorry for the lack of updates, that's been my fault completely.

So, a quick run down of what's been happening      ..We left Koh Tao on the 4th September, caught a boat to Koh Samui and then flew to Bangkok where we checked into a hotel for a couple of nights as  I had made an appointment at the dentist on the 5th to commence treatment for a couple of teeth implants.  So after several trips to the dentist, having what felt like Edward Scissor Hands, versus the Hulk wrestling in my mouth, I've been looking and feeling like a puffa fish  ...didn't quite realize how much my face would swell up  ...I was slightly shocked when I looked in the mirror the next morning, goodness knows what Si must have thought ...what creature is that lying next to me? .   (had pins drilled into my jaw bone to fix a few implants in)  ..not the nicest of things  ..still taking all sorts of tablets for swelling, infection & beauty (nargh, just made that one up)   ..So back again today to see the dentist to get my temp denture (sounds so attractive) and then after that, a quick visit to the surgeon to see how my screw implants are doing and to see whether or not I need any cementing to reinforce the pins/screw things

Day 3 ...I'm the one on the left ;-D

Si's been busy, downloading series for me to watch, UK work ..he's been very patient looking after me  ..he's so lovely!!    .....oh yes, in the midst of everything, Matt, who runs Crystal Dive let us use his apartment while we've been here in Bangkok, which has been brilliant.  It has a small kitchen, so we've been able to cook, a lounge, bathroom, bedroom and a great view  ...with not wanting to go out too much, it's been a life saver.  Now that the swelling in my face has gone down, I've ventured down to the pool which has been lovely.

We're both very much looking forward to seeing everyone and catching up on all the news.
