25th March 2015
Jenny woke we the day before my birthday, and said that we were spending a few days there. This came as no surprise to me since I had seen the schedule for friends at the dive school, and a fair few people had already asked me when I was going to Samui..!
So we got on the afternoon boat and spent the journey playing Settlers of Catan. It made the boat ride go nice and quick... Carsten won, as he always does...
Once the ferry arrived we got a taxi to Cocooning Hotel, owned by our friend, Dave.
Checked in, we chilled for a couple of hours watching the Friday Night Walking Street go by (a night market).
Steve had just arrived from the UK, so turned up as a surprise (although I had guessed it again!). After a couple of hours, we went mooching along Walking Street to look at the goods for sales and to get some food... ending up in a Greek restaurant eating falafels that looked like cats poo!
After our meal, it was back to Cocooning, with lots of drinks bought for me, I just made it till midnight so they could sing Happy Birthday for me...
Waking up the next morning, all of us had headaches, and after opening my prezzies,we thought the best way to solve this would be to do some Go Karting, and some shopping...
With an 800m track and 270cc karts, it was good fun, and damm hot... Steve pulled out after the 2nd race since he was going to pass out with the heat, jetlag, and hangover taking its toll..
After a few races, it was time to go shopping where I bought a new phone to replace my dead one and some bits and bobs that you cannot get on Koh Tao (Bisto gravy, Haloumi cheese etc). Back to Cocooning, Timea and Atilla had popped over from Koh Tao to celebrate.
We then got a taxi to Daves house, where he had been doing a BBQ for my birthday.. with decorations that were sent over by Dad (thanks Pops!)..
Flagging before midnight, we headed back to Cocooning... waking the next day to do the whole Go Karting / Shopping thing again!! What fun!! Atilla was a speed demon and blasted everyone...
That was our days in Samui... The next day it was back on to the ferry with a relaxed feeling and ready for my trip to Bali and Komodo in a few days.

16th March 2015
Jen here, it's been pretty busy ...I've done the odd bit of teaching, Advanced courses & DSD's but mostly working and ECO office doing one thing or another.
I've had a woman here from the International Students Volunteer (ISV) based in Chang Mai who's interested in sending a couple of groups (10-16 students) here to do land conservation for 2 weeks.
Unfortunately most of the students don't dive, so that limits me slightly but I've found a project that they could possibly work on up at the Save Koh Tao office ..this is where we did our permaculture course, mooring bouy workshops and fund raisers but as the office and grounds are no longer in use, the land owner has agreed to let the area be turned into a community park so that Thai's, Burmese & westerners can have somewhere safe, fun and free to take their children to play.
There's a little kitchen, area for coffee's, maybe a 2nd hand stall and a great stage for presenting, movies etc and hopefully will close the divide between the nationalilites on the island ...the lady that came up with the idea is Toni, who teaches English to all ages.
The only problem that I have is that the 'ISV' have given me a totally unrealistic budget per person, laughable really. As this is my first big venture and after taking the rep for a free Discover Scuba Dive I felt quite disappointed ..AND after saving her life ...as she panicked, tried to bolt to the surface on the dive at 11mtrs. Oh well, I'll know better next time ;-D
Simon has been busy with video stuff, including helping out with a film shoot for a TV programme called "Jeff Corwin's Ocean Mysteries".
The programme will be aired on mainstream US television towards the end of 2015.
Apart from that, Simon and I are pretty well, we've both got twingy backs, I've got a head cold and we are both missing everyone very much.

9th March 2015
And another week passes.
This week, Steve returned to the UK to sort out passport and visa stuff.. So I am in charge of the video crew. Trying to arrange the different groups to be filmed in a busy full moon is a little stressful and annoying, especially when its 8pm at night and the instructor is still being unhelpful...
Ah well, Steve will be back soon enough...
We also, have had pictures of our cast sent to us, which hopefully will be going underwater soon...
They look quite spooky to me... Jen's lip needed a bit of repair (she looks like she has a mega cold sore in these pictures!
Tomorrow, is an interesting day.... After almost a year of talks, a TV company from the US are arriving to make a program called Ocean Mysteries with Jeff Corwin... They shall only be here a few hours, and I am sure its going to be chaos... but interesting nevertheless.
Jenny is also having a busy couple of days... She has a representative from ISV coming today, to potentially arrange students to come and help with land conservative on Koh Tao in June.. It could be a big help, since they are trying to build a new kids playground / school and having 20 odd volunteers to help would speed things up incredibly... more news on that when Jen nails down the details...
