28th October 2014

Having the last couple of days off has been great.

I've finally managed to replenish my plant pot with soil and for a little treat, put some veggie peelings in with it. The plant (don't know the name of it) should thrive now, but I'm not expecting a 'Jack and the Beanstalk' scenario :-D

We also returned to see one of our orchids flowering   ..so pretty.

Having not worked at all, I've been able to go out with the cycling crew.  It's been hard work and very hot in comparison to cycling in the UK but for once, have been loving the hills  ..no pain, no gain!!!

Last night before we set off, I popped in a shop to buy some water and bumped into this ugly fellow.  Fat and as hairy as you like.    Bag Puss comes to mind :-D

Later on today, I think I'll go to the Regal hotel for a swim.

26th October 2014

After teaching a 5 person Open Water Course in what seems like ages, I now have the day off.   It was so lovely this morning not to have to get up :-D    The course itself went well, no real big issues.  I didn't get any Con-Ed (continuing education/people going on to do Advanced)  ..So,  as it's very quiet down at Crystal, I'll probably have a few days off.

It'll be nice to have time to have a good sort out and get back on the bike which I haven't ridden properly for a couple of weeks.  My body can certainly feel it.  I need to get back to swimming as well, now that I've got my trendy waterproof headphones.

Simon on the other hand has been really good, he's been out running.

As it's Sunday, Simons preparing a roast dinner  ..so I'm very much looking forward to that..

22nd October 2014

With some real whopper storms overnight, its seems that the Monsoon season is about to commence.
Jenny started an Open Water course today with 5 students... for this time of year that is quite a big group. I think she is quite looking forward to getting back into the groove.

I spent time with the Eco crew, helping out with Clam Transplants at Junkyard... The visibility was pretty poor so I didn't see much, but its still nice to be underwater.!

I have also spent some time working on www.divekohtao.com and www.crystalimageskohtao.com . Both websites need various things implemented, but trying to catch up with the right people is proving to be difficult.

With a little bit of UK work, a bit of flying the drone, and preparing for an upcoming Self Reliant Course that I am teaching in 2 days... the time is passing quickly...

Now, if I could just get some sleep through the storms!

19th October 2014

A couple of lazy days ensued with lots of watching tv, out to Chatuchak Market for some serious mooching and generally chilling out..

Last night however was most definitely not chilled. Jen had gone to the pool... I popped to the gym for a run. Afterwards I met Jen and we returned to the room... and realised that I had locked the only set of keys in the room...

After speaking to the front desk of the complex, they said they could do nothing without the owners permission... and after frantic calls its seemed that the owner was out of contact for 2 days! This posed a big problem:

1. Jen in a bikini, me in sweaty gym stuff.
2. No money
3. Very low battery on phone
4. Nowhere to sleep

I must admit, that panic was setting in... we were due to fly the next morning and with no way to get into our room it seemed like we were in deep trouble. I managed to finally communicate the dire situation to the front desk and call a locksmith for me. The guy turned up half an hour later and opened the door in a flash with his lock picking skills... 30 quid well spent.!

The next morning, at 5am... it was time to go..

With our 74kg of luggage we got a taxi, flight, ferry, and taxi...

Finally back to the apartment on Koh Tao... it was time to unpack and then head out to say hi to everybody in the evening before returning to the apartment with a nice takeaway from Yang's restaurant..

16th October 2014

You'll never guess what time we got up today  ...2.30pm!!!!   In fact I got up at 2pm and went out for milk, leaving Simon out for the count.  When I got back, I hadn't taken the keys with me, so had to knock for Simon to let me in.  After knocking for a few minutes I headed back down to reception and got them to call, hoping this would wake Simon, but there was still no reply.  So back up to the 29th floor, I banged on the door and after a couple minutes, a sleepy Simon opened the door.

After a cuppa and breakfast/lunch  ...Simon had a call to say that his PC was ready, so he headed off across town to collect it.  I in the meantime went down to the pool for a swim.  On his return, he dropped his PC off in the room, got changed and went to the gym.

That evening, we ventured out to the 'Long Table'  which is a 25th floor bar/restaurant and has Thailand’s longest existing dining table (25 meters long).  It's funny as we chose to sit outside to get a better view of the city.

15th October 2014

The flight to Bangkok was good even though I/we didn't get a lot of sleep.  Arriving in the morning was a lot cooler, which was nice.

After getting to the apartment, I rested and Simon went on a mammoth journey across town drop his computer in for repair.   He'd arranged this whilst in the UK and it's going to take 3 days, so to be safe, we're staying a couple of more days.  I must have slept for a few hours as I was wide awake most of the night ;-)  DOH!

Tuesday morning I had an appointment with the dentist and from there we went to Ikea and had a good look around.  We bought a very thin quilt and quilt cover  ..as Simon was a little fed up with sleeping under an over sized towel.  After spending an hour or so walking around we tried to find an LCD screen for Si's new GoPro  ..every shop we asked in,  just smiled, laughed and said 'No'  ..very frustrated and tired, we headed back to the apartment for a well earned cup of tea.  In the evening we went to 'Charlie Browns' a Mexican restaurant that we've been to a few times.  Tuesday night was 1/2 price margarita night, so taking advantage, we ended up drinking 2 pitchers :-D

As a result of that, Simon's been poorly all day today  ..he's been so bad that he hasn't even been out of the door.  Poor ole thing :-D    I on the other hand, have been the doting wife ..making him breakfast (when he eventually felt like eating), cups of tea, snuggling up on the sofa and going into town for supplies and dinner.

I did manage to go for a swim which was lovely, especially being the only person in the pool.

10th October 2014

The time has just flown by and Simon and I have been all over the place to say our 'goodbyes'.

We've been to Kent to visit Simon's mum, Dell and Aunty Pat.  Caught up with friends for drinks/meals and attended Simon's fathers retirement party at the BBC with live music from the Velvet Gods of Wrath.

5th October 2014

The week has been busy.    We've caught up with good friends Ally & Phil.  Rosie (big sis) and I have had an Annie Sloan painting day over at my other sister Fiona's which was great fun.  I've also cycled most days and have helped out in my sisters Tea room, as she's been poorly.  Si's been down to Kent for a cards night with the boys, been in and out of the office and today, completed a 5k charity run with a sore ankle at the Four Seasons Hotel in Dogmersfield today  ..so I'm very proud!

29th September 2014

Sunday morning, we traveled down to Sussex to visit my elder sister, Jan and family.  Rosie drove down earlier in the morning to attend a service and Simon and I caught a lift with Fiona a later in the day, along with Chloe and Iona.

As we don't often see Jan & co,  Rosie and I planned to stay a couple of nights.  Si only stayed for the day and caught a lift back with Fiona as I don't think he wanted to do the girly think.

It ended up being a productive couple of days.  Jan's brilliant at home crafts and it inspired us to make all sorts.  Napkins, keyring, bag holders, lavender bags and a couple of hearts ..we had great fun and even though Jan had a nasty sickness bug and Rosie a sore throat and the start of a cold.

What was also lovely is that we caught up with nieces and nephews and their little ones
